1000th Post Giveaway

Happy One Thousand all! Before I get to the giveaway details I just wanted to take a short stroll down memory lane. I started the blog way back in 2008 because...well, because the folks in the etsy forums told me to. The implication was that doing so would help send traffic to my shop and I complied. I also spent a lot of time plugging my blog posts and generally pestering people to pay attention to me. It worked for a time, but man was it bothersome and exhausting. There was a point where I thought I should just let it go and move on, but then something weird happened, other tatters found me. Then it became less about self promotion and more about connecting and self expression. Here is the place I lay my thoughts, complain, celebrate and create. You're sure not shutting me up now.

Now for the giveaway part. I though long and hard about what to offer and decided to offer you your very own one of a kind Trailing Scrolls necklace like one of those pictured above, but made just for you. So how do you get in on this action? I need you to leave a comment here on this post sometime before Monday morning. That comment needs to tell me what shade you would want your necklace in should you win and you must make sure I have a way to contact you, email, twitter or etsy account. If I have to search for you, I'll just pick someone else.

The winner or maybe winners if I get an overwhelming response, will get to choose a thread color from those I have on hand, they're all listed on my policy page at etsy. They will get to decide whether they want the necklace plain, like the black one above or embellished like the others and I will choose from my on hand stash of bits to make a one of a kind piece. Once the piece is done, it will be displayed here for all to see before being shipped to the winner. Sound good? Well then, get your comment in quickly. The winner or winners will be chosen by random number drawing just before I post Monday morning, which given my usual posting time probably means you really only have until late Sunday night.

Thanks for 1000 posts and here's to many thousand more...what, does that scare you?

Congratulations on your 1000th post. It is funny how blogging goes from being a chore to something you look forward to, isn't it?
I would love a turquoise pendant!
My favorite blogs to read are ones where you get to know the blogger... and hearing about their life, their complaints, and everyday stuff, besides their main focus (tatting, in your case) is what makes it interesting. I usually click on your post as soon as I see it: short, sweet, and real. Thank you for sharing!

As I've said before, your work is amazing and has inspired me to start tatting..now if i could just come up with my own designs..I'm trying to be patient, after all I'm still learning and have to remind myself that even my jewelry work had a learning curve. If I'm lucky enough to win. I'd love a black or green necklace. Thanks for posting every day, I truly look forward to reading it every morning!

Though I wish I had discovered tatting long ago, I'm glad I was able to run across your tutorial and fall in love with tatting earlier this year. I can't imagine not enjoying the creations of others and creating tatting patterns of my own. I love all of your designs and would love to own that necklace in either silver grey or black!

I look forward to your 2000th post :)

Congratulations on all your success. I don't know how you continue to create such amazing designs, but you definitely have an eye for it.
I really love the burgundy beaded one, or a gray beaded one. I still get comments all the time on the dragon pendant you made, and hopefully a new one will gain even more comments.
Cheers, and all the best in 2012!!

Congratulations on 1000 posts, that's a lot of words and.. a lot more inspiration to the people who follow you. Someone is going to be a very lucky person! If I was that person I would love it in deft blue with either crystals or white beads, or for something different white with silver beads. Thanks for the opportunity and the pleasure your blog always gives

Congratulations. Your blog has really inspired me to start tatting and I'm always amazed at what I can make. Thank you for the tutorials. I love the burgundy one with the beads. Its such a lovely colour!

Happy 1K post, I have been following all the pics of the new scroll design. I love it! You never cease to amaze and inspire.

I can't decide if I would love a necklace in Ivory with dark colored beads or a cranberry with shiny beads. Hummmm you decide. :-)

Paige said...

I have to say, it's a lovely design but I really love the way the beads pop on the brown one!

I think if I were to win I would probably like black with silver beads, or silver gray with black beads, or maybe something way out there like blue and orange (if you were to have beads that work)... I'd prolly just have to let you choose. =P

If I could only keep focused on one hobby at a time... I've tatted a few necklaces and started designing a mask, but got distracted... I don't think I could do this as a profession, so I admire your ability to design and produce the way you do.

Trinity Lea said...

I'm a classic black sort of person! maybe with some silver beads?

finding your designs was my inspiration to learn how to tat! and your blog is always entertaining, even if I only make it over to read once or twice a month. Congratulations on 1000!!!

I have been a silent admirer of your work for some time. I have started to tat again with your work being VERY inspirational. More than 3 years ago I purchased a dress for an annual art gala I attend. So this is the year I loose the weight to get into it and a black scroll necklace with ballet pink beads would be perfect. And should I win, please dangle in front of me to keep my focus! dinkiebug@aol.com

Oh wow. I've been clicking around your stuff for a couple of days (starting with and coming back to the mask on instructables) and even though I feel totally undeserving and don't want to add to the overwhelming amount of comments, I just have to try. A black necklace with shiny black beads would be gorgeous, and you can get to me at vindylyng@gmail.com.
